Cook County Clerk David Orr endorses Abdelnasser Rashid for Cook County Board

CHICAGO (July 19, 2018) — Cook County Clerk David Orr endorsed Democratic Cook County Commissioner candidate Abdelnasser Rashid on Thursday.

“As Deputy Chief of Staff in my office, Abdelnasser Rashid was a firm voice for stronger ethics and transparency,” said Cook County Clerk David Orr. “Abdelnasser has always ensured that our team stayed relentlessly focused on pushing forward with needed reform to better serve families in Cook County.”

“I am grateful to be endorsed by County Clerk David Orr, who has been a champion for reform and clean, effective government in Cook County for many years,” said Rashid. “His dedication to protecting voting rights is a cause I believe strongly in as well. I have had the honor of working closely with him and learning from someone who stands as a shining example of the phrase ‘public servant.’”

Rashid is challenging Republican appointee Sean Morrison for the Cook County Commissioner position in the 17th District. Morrison, who is also chair of the Cook County Republican Party, came under scrutiny recently for advocating for an employee who was a convicted sex offender.

Rashid is the former Deputy Chief of Staff for Cook County Clerk David Orr. He also served as Deputy Campaign Manager on Fritz Kaegi’s successful campaign for Cook County Property Tax Assessor in the March Democratic primary election. He lives in Justice with his wife, an attorney and former Worth Library Board Trustee, and two young daughters.
